Brunswick, GA, December 5, 2019 — This year, the U.S. Navy will be christening a brand new aircraft carrier, John F. Kennedy, the second ship of the Ford-class, nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. The Ford-class’s unique engineering and design innovations increase mission effectiveness, reduce workload for sailors and lower operating costs for the U.S. Navy. It was the distinct honor of PAR Marine (Jered LLC) to have contributed to the construction of this great vessel, providing the aircraft elevators, steering gear and the anchor windlasses. PAR Marine is located in Brunswick, GA, with approximately 140 employees, a division of PAR Systems, LLC. The company has been contributing equipment to all of our nation’s surface combatants since World War II.
The U.S.’s aircraft program is made up of over 2,000 suppliers in 46 states, injecting $4.1 billion and thousands of jobs into communities across the country. In Georgia alone, the carrier program provides more than $14 million worth of economic impact and hundreds of jobs. “U.S. Navy aircraft carrier construction helps support the economy in Georgia and provides opportunities for skilled workers manufacturing American-made products. PaR Marine is honored that we were able to contribute to the soon-to-be-christened John F. Kennedy, as well as the continued protection of the United States,” said Ken Hunnicutt, Chief Operating Officer of PAR Marine.
The innovations of the Ford¬-class, including John F. Kennedy, were made possible by American companies, in communities both big small across the country. Local suppliers, like my company, are the backbone of our country’s defense shipbuilding industrial base–an industrial base that sustains America’s military and diplomatic strength. We are immensely proud of our contributions in support of our nation’s aircraft carrier program, especially our latest role in the construction of John F. Kennedy, and in support of the brave men and women of the U.S. Navy.
